Singer-songwriter and violinist Scarlett Deering celebrates the release of her upcoming album, There Is A Moon, with a pre-release concert in her hometown of Dallas, TX on December 29th at Poor David’s Pub. Scarlett will be performing all of the songs from her debut indie rock album which will be released in January 2017. She will be accompanied by a five-piece band including her father, the acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, Milo Deering. Tickets are $15 and are now on sale at www.scarlettdeeringmusic.com/shop.
Scarlett Deering is a 2008 graduate of Booker T. Washington Arts Magnet, where she received the George Michael Music Scholarship during her senior year. She studied at the University of North Texas before transferring to Berklee College of Music, where she earned her degree in Professional Music. Before embarking on her solo career, Scarlett played with many bands, including Art Decade, McAlister Drive, and the Denton-based rock band, Seryn, with whom she toured extensively in the U.S. and Canada. Scarlett currently lives in Nashville, TN, where she collaborates, writes and plays regularly with a thriving network of young artists and musicians. Her primary focus over the last year has been the creation of her upcoming album, There Is A Moon.
Scarlett fuses her classical string training and love of punk and indie rock to create a lush, complex and unique sound in There Is A Moon. It is a celestial-inspired indie rock album which features layered pop vocals, whimsical string parts, and a driving rhythmic backbone. The album explores both dense, ornate instrumentation, and sparse, intimate acoustic arrangements. Scarlett assembled a cast of notable and talented musicians to play on the album, including Sulene van der Walt (guitarist for Nate Ruess of Fun.), Jonathan Clark and Shawn Zorn (both of Twin Forks), Jordan Rochefort (of Seryn), and Milo Deering (currently on tour with Don Henley).
